Again, I'm not sure why son William is named, as according to the Chelmorton Parish Register, he was buried in 1763, many years before Dinah's Will was made. [294] The parish registers of both Leek (St Edward), and Quarnford (St Paul), record that the marriage of William Bagshaw of Bakewell Parish & Dinah Moss were married at Meerbrook on 30 Apr 1752. The Leek PR records Dinah was of Alstonfield, whereas the Quarnford PR is more specific, saying she was of Quarnford. Quarnford was a township and chapelry in the parish of Alstonefield. [286] Edward appears to have married two ladies with the same name. It is probable Elizabeth LOWE the elder was the aunt of Elizabeth LOW(E) the younger. So Edward married his first wife's niece... [267] The entry for Edward's marriage in Hathersage PR appears to record Elizabeth's surname as "LEE", but they were married by Licence, in which her surname is recorded as LOW. Edward was a widower aged 60, and Elizabeth was a spinster aged 23. The Bondsmen were William Syddall o.t.p. Eyam and Lawrence Green of the same. The marriage was to take place "in the Parish Church of Chesterfield or Chappell of Dore or Hathersage "between the Hours of Eight and Twelve of the Clock in the Forenoon", and the Bond was dated 7 Oct 1725 [return to Edward MOSSLEY ]
